LL I think are looking to use the 5th Birthday as the day of grand announcements. New rules, New products, New exchanges.
How about a new owner, say, Microsoft or IBM, say the economy we thought we had, we wont have as it is nothing more than Regime. How about the cost of membership going up and with a new platform, its a pay-for download. How about the cost of private island tier raising to ensure those who provide resources for investment pay more tier for the priveledge.
How about the price of main land being Locked!, Yes locked so that it attracts one fixed price and takes away the speculators that are responsible for varying land prices. How about a new type of land,zoning, so that shops and business have to confined to specific areas. If you open a shop on your own plot, if it is not zoned commercial, you lose your land. Not fair???
How about age/size restriction so that avatars that might appear child like receiving a warning and then a ban. How about content makers that create content that could lewd or anti-christian, being banned from SL as they are driving down the moral standards.
How about other ‘adult’ material, sex beds, pose balls, love chutes, dungeons! The makes and advertisers and vendors being removed from SL content because they attract an unmoral sector of the community.
How about getting a discount on land and membership if you are a Mormon, or a 7th day evan, or a Christian? Good for maintaining the faith and the moral promptitudes of the membership.
How about restricted times to log in, so that if you stay logged in for more than three hours, your considered a hog and are kicked off automatically, this will mean less lag for the rest of us, call it the Fair Use Policy.
Maybe they will now announce the reason for many screw ups recently is that they are introducing new IBM servers on the fly and as of 5B they will be turned on 1000 regions at a time, all over-sized prims will be removed, all porn related will be removed and the dreadful LSL code will be replaced by Mono, 99 percent of scripts will cease to function, but the new code will control what can be built.
How about announcing that there will be no more avatar to avatar transfers for free, it will not be permitted, minimum fee 100 L$ to better enable content creators to survive and demote copying between avatars.
How about Mr Linden finally announcing the end of the Free ALTERNATE AVI, so that you are not allowed a free account if you have a premium account, would stop a lot of griefers and make the whole thing more fair for everyone.
Nah, they are going to outlaw bots, so that camping and Second Inventory will be disabled permanently.
Ohhh wait a min, I know, they are going to time limit unpaid accounts, yes, two month then pay up.
Thats ok, your built in windows version checker will disable your Microsoft related products if they are not licensed as windows software already checks for pirated copies, imagine that, down, load SL and bam, your entire PC and its Network grinds to a halt as you still have an unlicensed copy of win cracker zapper 3.11 on your system….
It could be a lot more innocent, but I doubt it, Linden Labs needs more players, needs to clean up their act, needs to find another way of income generation. I dont think the birthday surprise, will be all that much fun for everyone, just a few, and their avi last name, will be ‘Linden’.
